Support continues to grow in Tucson, Arizona, as neighbors rally around the family of Nancy Guthrie nearly two weeks after the 84-year-old was reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills.
Residents in the quiet desert neighborhood have covered the front of Nancy Guthrie’s home with yellow flowers, ribbons, handwritten notes, and signs of encouragement, transforming the property into a visible symbol of hope.
The gesture began after members of the local neighborhood association encouraged residents to display yellow as a sign of faith in her safe return.
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on the night of January 31 after being dropped off at her Tucson-area home.
When she failed to attend her regular church service the following morning, friends alerted family members, prompting a 911 call and an investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities later indicated the case was being treated as a suspected abduction.
Investigators confirmed that blood evidence was located outside the residence.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation later released surveillance images showing a masked individual wearing gloves and carrying a backpack near Nancy Guthrie’s front door around the time she disappeared.
A black glove was subsequently recovered in the surrounding area and submitted for forensic testing.
The FBI has described the suspect as a male approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build.
Officials have stated that thousands of tips have been received as the investigation continues.
The Bureau has increased the reward to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie has repeatedly appealed to the public for assistance. In a social media message, she emphasized faith and unity, writing, “We believe in prayer.
We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope.” In a video statement, she added, “We are in an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”
Family members, including Annie Guthrie and Tommaso Cioni, have also remained involved as law enforcement continues door-to-door outreach and requests neighborhood security footage from the days leading up to the disappearance.
Outside the home, signs reading “Your neighbors stand with you” have been placed among the flowers.
Community members have paused quietly to pray, leave notes, or simply stand in solidarity with the Guthrie family.
Authorities with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI continue to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward as the search for Nancy Guthrie remains active.
